WORKSHOPS at Black Barns Devon

  • Painting a Paradise Garden - Saturday 7 March - at Heatherley's School of Art, London - please book via Royal Watercolour Society website: details  HERE

  • Abstract Painting workshop  - explore colour, value, composition and visual ideas then translate these into a painting on canvas. Two days exploring visual language, paint handling and picture making.  Suitable for all levels of ability.                  Tuesday 31 March & Wednesday 1 April 2020.  10am-4pm  £110 

  • Drawing & Painting with Inks  - explore ways to paint and draw with inks, working with line and marks, study ink drawings by Van Gogh, Giorgio Morandi and contemporary painters.                                                                                                    Thursday 28 May 2020.  10am-4pm  £55

  • Summer garden workshop  - collect imagery from the outside space and either interpret it in the studio or paint outisde (  Tuesday 21 & Wednesday 22 July   10am-4pm  £110

 

 

Further information:

Suzy is a fully qualified adult learning tutor who previously worked for Devon County's Adult Learning programme as an Art Tutor for ten years. 

Weekly classes run in six or five week blocks for all levels of ability. Beginners receive separate tuition as required within the group setting. Experienced painters often bring their own ideas to work with. The following optional structure is offered for all students around a suggested theme.

 

Week 1: warm up exercises, gathering ideas via drawing

Week 2: exploring tone

Week 3: colour studies (colour mixing for beginners)

Week 4 onwards: developing a painting or series of studies.

Teaching happens via weekly 1:1 tutorials, demonstrations, group discussions, video clips.  These are supportive, encouraging classes. Newcomers are very welcome. You will need to bring your own materials.  If you have have not attended previously please contact Suzy with any questions.  Materials: - You will need to bring your own materials to class.  If you are new and not sure what to purchase, please wait until after the first session where you can borrow materials and discuss with Suzy what to buy.

Data protection - Your email and contact number will be stored securely and only used to contact you with information about upcoming courses and occasional exhibitions.  You will be able to unsubscribe from emails. Please supply an up to date contact number - in case I have to cancel a class eg due to adverse weather conditions, in which case you will be offered a replacement session.

Booking - Payment is due when you book a place. Please contact Suzy via this website to check availability and receive a booking form.

Cancellation policy - If you need to cancel your place a refund will only be made if your place can be filled so please give as much notice as possible.  In exceptional circumstances your place may be transferred to a future course. Suzy reserves the right to occasional changes in the course dates due to unavoidable appointments, she will give as much notice as possible.
