CV

I make landscape and flower paintings in oils, watercolour and egg tempera, up to 120cm.
My pictures are about enjoyment of the natural world - looking, noticing details and the constant changes happening around my rural Devon home: seasons, flowers, weather, garden visitors.

Usually beginning outside, I make drawings or paint at my easel in the garden. Over time, the painting is brought inside to finish - giving a chance to work with memory, feeling, intuition.  I’m after harmony, an underlying rhythm and unity - I use a strictly limited palette for this.

A personal connection to the landscape is imperative.

My tutor , Timothy Hyman, said of my paintings: “Although initially pretty, Suzy’s paintings are deeply felt and poignant”.
