COLOUR WORKSHOP

Tuesday June 11th, 10am - 4pm £75

SPACES AVAILABLE

In this one day workshop we will make a 12 segmented colour wheel, consider the layout of a palette, mix complementary colours to produce neutrals, darken and lighten colours, explore colour matching through simple exercises and look at uses of colour in a sample of paintings. By the end of the day you should feel more confident at mixing the colours you want.

It will be easier to use waterbased paint such as watercolour, gouache or acrylic for this workshop.

You will need to bring paint in ONE of each of the following colours:

A cool yellow (eg lemon, Winsor lemon, Cadmium lemon)

A cool red (eg Alizaring crimson, magenta, rose)

A cool blue (eg Prussian, Phthalo or Cerulean blue)

A warm yellow (eg Cadmium yellow, indian yellow, yellow ochre (a warm earth yellow))

A warm red ( eg vermillion, cadmium red, napthol red)

A warm blue (eg Ultramarine or cobalt)

A white (zinc or chinese white is semi transparent so softer - better with watercolour if using)

or Titanium white (a more opaque, stronger white)

We will mix our own black in this workshop

Brushes - a medium sized round brush for mixing - suitable to your chosen paint

Palette with plenty of room for mixing, or bring some extra plates

Notebook and pencil

Suitable paper for painting such as watercolour paper (190lb weight or above is good) or pre-cut lining paper. Or a pad of acrylic paper.

There will be lining paper and some spare paint to borrow if you need.
