Further information:

Weekly classes run in six or five week blocks for all levels of ability. Beginners receive separate tuition as required within the group setting. Experienced painters often bring their own ideas to work with. The following optional structure is offered for all students around a suggested theme.

Week 1: warm up exercises & composition

Week 2: exploring tone and underpainting

Week 3: colour studies (colour mixing for beginners)

Week 4 onwards: Developing a painting or series of studies.

Teaching happens via weekly 1:1 tutorials, demonstrations, group discussions, video clips.  These are supportive, encouraging classes. Newcomers are very welcome. You will need to bring your own materials.  If you have have not attended previously please contact Suzy with any questions.  Materials: - You will need to bring your own materials to class.  If you are new and not sure what to purchase, please wait until after the first session where you can borrow materials and discuss with Suzy what to buy.

Winter Woodland Workshop (28 Nov): This is a structured one day workshop in which you will use watercolour techniques to create an atmospheric magical winter woodland picture which could be used or reproduced to create christmas cards. You will need to bring your own watercolour paint, palette and soft brushes.  All other equipment will be provided.

Spring workshop (18, 19 Feb): Using inspiration from the paintings of Marc Chagall, you will practise ways to use line and wash with gouache.   We will also look at Chagall's use of colour and imagery then create our own artwork to evoke that same spirit of celebration he often captures so well.
